New Delhi, March 16 -- Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the United States is permitting Iranian oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to CNBC. He noted the United States believed Iran is allowing a gradual reopening of the route, adding that Washington is comfortable with the situation for the time being as it wanted to ensure adequate global energy supplies.
"The Iranian ships have been getting out already, and we've let that happen to supply the rest of the world," Bessent said. He further mentioned, "We think that there will be a natural opening that the Iranians are letting out, and for now we're fine with that. We want the world to be well supplied."
