New Delhi, Oct. 21 -- The Delhi High Court has imposed a token cost of Rs.1 on Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited after the insurer sought Rs.5 crore in damages from social media influencer Vishal Rattewal over allegedly disparaging posts. The court held that the dispute did not involve trademark infringement and was not maintainable before its Intellectual Property Division, Bar and Bench reported.

The case centres on allegations that Rattewal's online content damaged the insurer's reputation. Niva Bupa sought the removal of the posts, an apology and compensation, arguing that its registered trademarks had been used alongside allegations of fraud, dishonesty, deception and unfair trade practices.
