New Delhi, Sept. 13 -- Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina emerged victorious in the 2026 US Open women's singles final as she defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the final to clinch her maiden title in New York.

That was her third Grand Slam title, after having won the Wimbledon championships in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2026.

This means that the only Grand Slam Rybakina is yet to win is the French Open, wherein her best finish was a quarter-final appearance in 2021.

Rybakina rose to world No 1 in the WTA rankings during the 2026 US Open, when she defeated China's Qinwen Zheng in the quarter-finals. That made her the first-ever Kazakhstani to achieve the world No 1 title.
