New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a two-day free bus travel facility for women in the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Women travelling within Uttarakhand on buses operated by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) will be able to travel without paying fares on August 28 and 29, according to an order issued by the state government.

The decision is aimed at easing travel for women during the festival, when many travel to their parental homes and meet relatives.

Under the government order, women will receive a 100% fare exemption on journeys undertaken on UTC buses within Uttarakhand on August 28 and 29.
