New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- US stock markets surged on Friday after a sharp sell-off in the previous trading session, as some stability returned to the bond market and helped ease pressure across financial markets.

As of 10:45 a.m. Eastern Time, the S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite was 0.2% higher.

At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 9.7 points, or 0.02%, to 52768.87. The S&P 500 rose 24.5 points, or 0.32%, to 7665.68​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 131.7 points, or 0.51%, to 26198.835.
