US stocks rise as oil retreats below $100, fresh tariffs and earnings in focus
New Delhi, July 24 -- US stock markets rose on Friday as oil prices eased, amid corporate earnings and a fresh round of US tariffs.
At 11:58 a.m. the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 358.97 points, or 0.70%, to 52,073.03, the S&P 500 gained 43.50 points, or 0.59%, to 7,451.80 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 30.60 points, or 0.12%, to 25,168.30.
As of 9:53 a.m. Eastern Time, the S&P 500 fell 0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%, and the Nasdaq fell 0.6%.
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 79.7 points, or 0.15%, to 51791.37. The S&P 500 fell 2.0 points, or 0.03%, to 7406.3, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 30.3 points, or 0.12%, to 25107.384.
