The benchmark indices may see short-covering after the sharp slump in the previous session. The trends on Gift Nifty also signal a cautiously positive start for the frontline indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex today.

Gift Nifty was trading around 23,964 level, a premium of nearly 52 points from the Nifty futures' previous close.
