New Delhi, April 11 -- US military, on Saturday announced that it had started "setting conditions" for clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, with two US warships passing through the key waterway.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump posted on social media that the United States military has started to clear the Strait of Hormuz, and that all of Iran's minelaying ships have been sunk.

In a post on X, the US Central Command said the USS Frank Peterson and USS Michael Murphy transited the Strait of Hormuz "as part of a broader mission to ensure the strait is fully clear of sea mines previously laid by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps."
