New Delhi, Aug. 1 -- The US Embassy in Amman has urged American citizens across the Middle East to consider leaving the region if possible, warning that escalating tensions with Iran could trigger further attacks, flight disruptions and security risks.

In a security alert issued on Saturday (August 1), the embassy said the regional security environment remains "complex" and cautioned that the situation could deteriorate without warning.

The embassy advised Americans currently in the Middle East to remain vigilant and be prepared for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions.

It said some airlines have delayed resuming normal flight schedules while others have cancelled routes altogether.
