New Delhi, Aug. 2 -- As many as 13 people died after a plane crashed into a field in Peru on Saturday outside the city of Nazca, local authorities said.

Peru's Ministry for Trade and Tourism said that 11 "foreign tourists" and two crew members were on the plane that crashed Saturday.

State news agency Agencia Andina reported that two German, two Spanish and seven Italian tourists were on the plane.

The ministry said the plane crashed in the area of Socos, approximately 6 km (4 miles) from the city of Nazca and roughly 19 km (12 miles) from the Nazca Lines site.
