Telegram case: Delhi high court rejects plea challenging Centre's temporary ban of platform
New Delhi, June 19 -- Mumbai/New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday rejected Telegram's plea challenging the Centre's temporary ban on the messaging platform. The court found that the government had provided sufficient reasons to justify the blocking order, which was imposed ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination to curb the alleged misuse of the platform by paper leak and cheating networks.
A vacation bench, which heard the matter for two consecutive days, reserved the judgment on Thursday. Telegram had moved the Delhi high court requesting for an urgent hearing of the matter after the Centre blocked Telegram until 22 June under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, citing concerns over exam-related paper leak networks.
