New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday detained DMK leader and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin at his Chennai residence following an FIR registered against him over his alleged defamatory remarks about actor Trisha Krishnan and Chief Minister Vijay at the Cauvery rally in Thanjavur on Monday.

Following his arrest, Tamil Nadu LoP on Tuesday said, "I did not name anybody, and I did not speak in bad taste. I am ready to face the consequences, and I am not afraid of arrest," news agency PTI reported.
