Stock market today, July 16 -- Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Thursday, 16 July, led by a rebound in information technology stocks, while investors digested June-quarter earnings from key financial companies. However, gains remained capped as escalating tensions in the Middle East kept risk sentiment in check.

The Nifty 50 rose 0.2% to 24,125.10, while the BSE Sensex advanced 0.23% to 77,369.88 in early trade.

Market breadth was positive, with 10 of the 16 major sectoral indices trading in the green. Meanwhile, the broader midcap and smallcap indices were largely unchanged.
