New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open flat on Wednesday, 19 August, amid weak global cues.

The Gift Nifty also pointed to a muted start for domestic equities. It was trading around 24,210, indicating a 20.1-point discount to the previous close of Nifty futures.

Indian benchmark indices ended sharply lower in the previous session, with the Nifty 50 slipping below the 24,200 mark. The Sensex declined 492.70 points, or 0.63%, to settle at 77,235.46, while the Nifty 50 fell 132.75 points, or 0.55%, to close at 24,154.90.
