New Delhi, June 29 -- A 92nd-minute strike from Stephen Eustaquio fired Canada to the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 1-0 win over South Africa in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The match was evenly poised and looked all set to head into extra time, but Eustaquio received the ball from the edge of the penalty box to fire the ball into the bottom corner, beating South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

South Africa made a few quick, desperate attempts to find an equaliser, but to no avail.

Canada will next face either the Netherlands or Morocco on 4 July in Houston for a place in the quarter-finals.

"We just kept believing, we kept pushing, and I think we couldn't have imagined it any other way," Eustaquio said...
