Siddaramaiah resigns, May 28 -- Siddaramaiah has finallt stepped down as Karnataka chief minister today, paving the way for his deputy, DK Shivakumar, to take over.
Address a press conference in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said he did whatever the Congress High Command asked him to do. He will fly to Delhi again after the presser, according to his office.
"I have resigned as Chief Minister at Lok Bhavan. Governor is not in town. His office told me that Governor would return in the evening. Therefore, I handed over the resignation letter at his office," he said.
Siddaramaiah's resignation could finally bring an end to months of speculation over a leadership change in the Congress government in Karnataka.
