New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said Rs.1,262.54 crore was being transferred directly into the bank accounts of 36.87 lakh women under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. The amount covers the second instalment for October, November and December, with eligible women receiving Rs.3,000 to Rs.4,500 together for the three-month period.

Addressing a gathering at Sri Goindwal Sahib, Mann said Rs.2,562.33 crore had earlier been distributed as Satkar Rashi among 73.99 lakh women. With the latest transfer, the total amount sent directly into women's bank accounts under the scheme had reached Rs.3,824.87 crore, he said.

Mann said around 97% of women in Punjab would be eligible to benefit from the scheme. He...
