New Delhi, Nov. 2 -- Muft Bijli Yojana, the central government provides a subsidy up to Rs.78,000 for residential households installing rooftop solar panels. PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 February 2024 for installing rooftop solar in One Crore households. The scheme is aimed at providing up to 300 units of free electricity per month to 1 crore homes through rooftop solar installations.

According to the Government of India, the scheme provides a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of 60% of the system cost for 2 kW systems and 40% of the additional system cost for systems between 2 to 3 kW capacity.
