New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- For the second time in less than three weeks, India's Neeraj Chopra fell short of Rumesh Pathirage after the rising Sri Lankan star clinched the top spot in men's javelin throw event at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday. After settling with a silver medal behind gold medallist Pathirage at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the two-time Indian Olympic medallist fell short by mere nine centimetres at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.

It was Chopra's best performance in more than a year, as the Indian recorded a 88.05m throw in the second round, after the 88.16m he recorded while winning the Paris Diamond League in June 2025.
