New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- Although Indian stock markets recently fell for eight straight weeks, household investors are viewing it as an opportunity to buy equities indirectly. That's what data for September issued by the Association of Mutual Funds in India shows.

Inflows into equity mutual funds surged 31% to Rs.38,306 crore last month from Rs.29,328 crore in August, while contributions through monthly systematic investment plans climbed to a record Rs.32,490 crore.

The market's long slide has made valuations more attractive, which seems to be drawing investors to pile into shares for long-span gains. Since the Indian economy is growing healthily, confidence is intact of markets staging a comeback at some point.
