New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Major UK airports faced widespread flight disruption on Tuesday after a technical failure at the country's air traffic control provider affected the processing of flight plans. Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted were among the airports reporting delays and cancellations, while airlines including EasyJet and British Airways warned passengers of disruption.

Nearly 300 flights were cancelled Tuesday because of a technical issue in the U.K. air traffic control system, the flight monitoring website Flightradar24 reported.
