Maharashtra MLC election: Polling for Nagpur bye-election, 16 biennial seats on June 18, result on June 22
New Delhi, May 18 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday, May 18, announced bye-election to one seat and biennial elections to 16 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from Local Authorities' Constituencies. The polling is scheduled for June 18 and the counting of the votes will be held on June 22.
The 16 seats span constituencies including Solapur, Ahmednagar, Thane, Jalgaon, Pune, Nashik, Amravati, and Aurangabad-cum-Jalna, among others, whose terms expired between January 2022 and August 2025. The seats could not be filled earlier due to non-fulfillment of the 75% local bodies functioning criteria.
