Lawyers say Meta covered up research on teen addiction; company's influencer outreach to promote teen accounts in focus
New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Meta is under scrutiny over its alleged cover up of internal research which showed that teenagers are getting addicted to the platform, with 29 US states' lawsuit against the company going to trial on Tuesday.
Lawyers representing the attorneys general of these states claimed during the trial that while it is widely believed that the health and well-being of kids is a shared responsibility, "Meta didn't do its share."
Megan O'Neill, a deputy attorney general from California, told jurors on Tuesday that they would be shown internal documents as well as witness testimonies regarding how Meta allegedly tried to cover up research on social media addiction.
