Kunal Kamra tells Bombay HC on Sahyog Portal: 'Worse situation if ordinary policemen orders content takedown'
New Delhi, April 9 -- Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra told the Bombay High Court (HC), during the hearing of his plea challenging the Constitutional validity of the "Sahyog Portal" and the 2025 amendment to Rule 3(1)(d) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, that there is a worse situation wherein an ordinary policeman orders takedown of content, which s/he thinks is "objectionable," reported Live Law.
Kunal Kamra has in February 2026 moved the high court, challenging the government's 'Sahyog Portal'. He alleged that the portal is "unconstitutional and unreasonable" assault on freedom of speech, as it allows officials to take down social media content.
