Karnataka cracks down on 'analogue paneer', bans manufacturing, sale for 1 year: Does it apply to frozen desserts?
New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- The Karnataka government has imposed a one-year ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of "analogue paneer" marketed as "paneer" officials said on Saturday, stating that the move has been taken as a public health measure.
Officials clarified that the ban covers only dairy analogue products for which the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has not laid down specific quality standards or specifications.
The restriction does not extend to standardised products such as frozen desserts, processed cheese and mixed-fat spreads, which are regulated under separate food safety standards
