New Delhi, April 19 -- In a shocking incident early Sunday, a 48-year-old man allegedly murdered his 11-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats at their residence in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Local authorities confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Shashi Ranjan Mishra, a medical representative, directly at the crime scene.

The tragedy unfolded at Trimoorti Apartment in the Kidwai Nagar locality, under the jurisdiction of the Naubasta police station. Mishra resided there with his wife, Reshma-originally from Siliguri, West Bengal-their twin girls, and a six-year-old son. The couple married in 2014.
