July DA hike, 8th Pay Commission: What Central government employees need to know
New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- Central government employees and pensioners are awaiting the Union government's decision on the July 2026 Dearness Allowance (DA) revision. The DA rate is revised twice a year using a prescribed formula linked to the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW).
As of today, no official notification has been made by the cabinet on the revised DA rate.
The government increased the DA by 2 percentage points, from 58% to 60%, effective 1 January 2026. The corresponding Dearness Relief for pensioners was also boosted to 60%. The second such announcement for this year is awaited.
