New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) has notified the Insurance Intermediaries (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, overhauling the regulatory framework for insurance intermediaries. The changes introduce mandatory tagging of every insurance policy to the individual salesperson responsible for the sale, replace periodic licence renewals with perpetual registration, strengthen governance and disclosure norms, and aim to improve accountability across the insurance distribution ecosystem.
