New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- There are reasons to justify cancel culture. It has served a purpose of accountability that traditional systems have failed to address. It has provided a means to address behavioral issues, uplift marginalized voices, and create opportunities to discuss the problems at hand.
However, the sheer volume of public call-outs has shifted the meaning of accountability. What was once intended as an awareness tool now carries the potential for rushed judgments made without context or resolution. This raises a fundamental question about the type of accountability needed, rather than asking if accountability is needed at all.
