Historic gold for Lovlina Borgohain at Asian Games 2026, joins legendary Mary Kom in elite Asiad list
New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- Lovlina Borgohain etched her name into history books on Friday after the Olympic medal winner defeated China Bao Ziyi to take home the first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the women's 75kg category. The Assamese boxer, who missed on a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games recently, defeated her Chinese opponent by 5-0 margin in an unanimous decision.
With this win, Lovlina also became the second woman after legendary M Mary Kom to win a gold medal at the women's boxing at the Asian Games since 2014. In the previous edition of Asian Games, Lovlina had won silver.
