Govt hikes export duty on diesel to Rs.55.5/litre; ATF to Rs.42/litre from today - Check details
New Delhi, April 11 -- The Indian government has today hiked export duty, i.e. windfall tax, on diesel by Rs.34 per litre to Rs.55.5/litre, from Rs.21.5/litre, with immediate effect, PTI reported.
The duty has also been hiked for air turbine fuel (ATF) to Rs.42/litre with immediate effect, it added citing a notification from the Ministry of Finance on 11 April (Saturday).
Further, it has also raised excise to high-speed diesel to Rs.24 and infra cess to Rs.36, as per an Economic Times report.
The government had, on March 26, imposed an export duty of Rs.21.50 a litre on diesel, and Rs.29.5 per litre on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). The duties were levied to increase domestic availability of the fuel amid the war in West Asia.
