New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- Lovlina Borgohain etched her name into history books on Friday after the Olympic medal winner defeated China Bao Ziyi to take home the first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the women's 75kg category. The Assamese boxer, who missed on a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games recently, defeated her Chinese opponent by 5-0 margin in an unanimous decision.

The win was a perfect birthday gift for Lovlina as she also became the second woman after legendary Mary Kom to win a gold at the women's boxing at the Asian Games since 2014. In the previous edition of Asian Games, Lovlina had won silver. She celebrates her 29th birthday today.
