New Delhi, June 20 -- Co-hosts United States became the second team after Mexico to storm into the round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after Mauricio Pochettino's side defeated Australia 2-0 in a Group D clash in Seattle. This was the first time USA's won consecutive matches at a FIFA World Cup since 1930. So far, the Americans have scored six goals, just one shy of their record for most in a single World Cup.

Meanwhile, Scotland's hopes of qualification to the next round took a half following a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Morocco in group C. The fate of Morocco and Scotland will depend on the result of Brazil's clash against Haiti in Group C later on the day in Philadelphia.
