New Delhi, Aug. 26 -- European cricket will embark on a new era as the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) kicks off on August 26 with six franchises in Netherlands Scotland and Ireland. Approved by the ICC, the ETPL aims to bridge the gap between the associate cricketers and the top tier of international cricket and promote Europe as a major power centre in the game.

The inaugural season of ETPL will run from August 26 to September 20 across two iconic venues: Voorburg Cricket Club in the Netherlands and Malahide Cricket Club in Ireland. Voorburg will host the opening phase of the competition before the action shifts to Malahide (Dublin, Ireland) for the remainder of the league stage.
