Eid-al-Adha 2026, May 27 -- Eid al-Adha, widely known as Bakrid or the Festival of Sacrifice, is among the most important festivals in Islam. The occasion commemorates the devotion and faith of Prophet Ibrahim, who, according to Islamic tradition, was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command.

Before the sacrifice could take place, God provided a ram instead, honouring Ibrahim's unwavering faith and devotion. The festival is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar, and coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
