New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- Amid consumer outrage over ethanol 20 petrol, the Centre is reportedly exploring whether branded fuels such as XP95, Speed and Power95 can be sold in an E10 formulation. This eliminates the need for separate E10 storage and dispensing infrastructure, as many consumers, concerned about standard E20 fuel, are increasingly switching to high-octane alternatives.

Sources told Mint that the Union Petroleum Ministry is discussing the matter with state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) - Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum.
