Dearness Allowance, May 21 -- The Uttar Pradesh state government has today announced a 2% hike in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners, effective from 1 January. This increases the DA component of staff compensation to 60% of basic pay from 58%.

According to reports, this is expected to come into effect from May 2026 and will be reflected in the salary credited in the month of June. State government employees will most likely see their in-hand pay increase. The decision will benefit around 16 lakh Uttar Pradesh government employees, teachers, and pensioners.

Further, employees will arrears for the past months - January to April 2026 in their General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts.
