New Delhi, Oct. 5 -- Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh has raised questions about the disparity in cash rewards offered by state governments to athletes who won the same medal at the recently concluded Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.

Vijender shared a post on Facebook highlighting the difference between the prize money announced for Kiran Pahal by the Haryana government and that offered to her Indian relay teammate, MR Poovamma, by the Karnataka government after their gold-medal-winning performance at the 2026 Asian Games. While Pahal will receive Rs.3 crore, Poovamma will only get a cash reward of Rs.35 lakh.
