79 square yards, two wills: Why Punjab & Haryana HC ruled in favour of adopted daughter in property dispute
New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- A dispute over a 79-square-yard property in Ludhiana has reached the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled in favour of an adopted daughter in an inheritance battle involving two competing wills, according to a Times of India report. The case concerns a six-room house owned by a widow who allegedly revoked an earlier will favouring her younger sister and later executed another will bequeathing the property to her adopted daughter.
According to TOI, the woman who owned the house had a younger sister and brother. Although both lived nearby, it was the brother who visited her regularly and cared for her, the report said.
