New Delhi, Sept. 6 -- Four people were reportedly arrested after a batch of "misbranded" Abhayrab rabies vaccine was seized during a search of an unlicensed premises in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, on April 22, 2026, according to a notice by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

This is the second time in less than two years that concerns were raised about counterfeit Abhayrab doses in India.

The regulator said the findings raised concerns about the sample's "identity and authenticity" and warranted investigation into whether it could be a spurious drug under India's Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Reuters reported.
