
NEW DELHI, April 20 -- A 26-year-old advocate allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 15th floor of the Hotel Royal Plaza in Connaught Place on Saturday morning.
The police were alerted about the incident through a PCR call received at the Connaught Place Police Station.
According to the police, the incident was reported at around 9:15 AM on April 19, to Connaught Place Police Station regarding a case at Hotel The Royal Plaza. Police teams, led by the Station House Officer, rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Singh, 26, a resident of Mahavir Enclave in Delhi. The deceased Singh was working as an advocate in the Delhi High Court and had checked into the hotel at approximately 6:30 PM on April 18, just hours before the incident occurred.
Preliminary enquiry at the scene suggested that Singh allegedly jumped from the 15th floor of the hotel building. Emergency services responded promptly, and he was rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Following the incident, teams from the Crime Branch and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the scene thoroughly.
Officials collected and seized relevant exhibits, and CCTV footage from the hotel premises has been reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. Police said that, based on initial findings and statements provided by the victim's family, no foul play is suspected in the case. The body has been preserved in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Authorities have initiated proceedings under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway.
