
Lucknow, Aug. 18 -- The Yogi government continues to take Action against hospitals associated with the Ayushman scheme for negligence in treating Ayushman cardholder patients, rule violations, and financial irregularities. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Action has been taken against 866 hospitals from 2020 to 2026. Of these, 648 hospitals were de-impaneled, while 61 hospitals were suspended from the scheme.
In addition, specialties at 17 hospitals were de-impaneled. In addition, penalty action was taken against 140 hospitals, with fines of more than Rs.8.5 crore imposed. More than Rs.4 crore of the penalty amount has been recovered from them so far.
SACHIS CEO Archana Verma stated, "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is very serious about ensuring quality treatment for Ayushman cardholder patients. Accordingly, as per CM Yogi's intent, continuous Action is being taken against hospitals found negligent in patient treatment and failing to meet prescribed standards. She stated that in 2026, Action has been taken against 318 hospitals for negligence. Of these, 242 hospitals were de-impaneled for failing to fulfill the 35 indicators prescribed by the Government of India, while 61 hospitals were suspended."
She added that this also includes de-empanelment of the specialty of 15 hospitals. Earlier, in 2025, Action was taken against 16 hospitals, including de-empanelment of 14 hospitals and de-empanelment of the specialty of two hospitals.
The SACHIS CEO further said, "Action was taken against 27 hospitals in 2024. Meanwhile, Action was taken against 203 hospitals in 2023, 41 in 2022, 44 in 2021 and 77 hospitals in 2020. In addition, in the financial year 2025-26, a penalty of Rs.3,45,66,861 was imposed on 60 hospitals. Of this, Rs.3,19,27,958 has been recovered from the hospitals so far, while Action is underway to recover the remaining amount."
She further added that, similarly, in the financial year 2026-27, a penalty of Rs.5,07,59,491 has so far been imposed on 80 hospitals. Of this, Rs.1,17,72,883 has been recovered so far, while Rs.3,89,86,608 remains outstanding. Combining both financial years, a penalty of Rs.8,53,26,352 has been imposed on 140 hospitals. Of this, Rs.4,37,00,841 has been recovered. Hospitals that continue to fail to meet the prescribed standards even after penalties are imposed will face suspension action.
The CEO stated that the State Anti-Fraud Unit is identifying, based on data analytics, cases involving negligence in the treatment of Ayushman patients, failure to meet prescribed standards, repeated admission of the same patients, submission of the same report, and showing OPD patients as admitted under IPD. Action is subsequently being taken against these hospitals.
