Noida, Sept. 7 -- The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated work to develop Yamuna City's largest central park in Sector 20, a move aimed at providing residents with a dedicated space for recreation, walking and leisure.
The proposed park will spread across around 14 acres in Pocket-B of the sector. YEIDA has floated a tender for the project, while its horticulture department has completed the design, officials said.
According to officials, the park has been planned for people across age groups and will have extensive lawns, seasonal flower beds, landscaped plantations, grassy mounds and dedicated walking paths. A variety of flowering plants and ornamental vegetation will be planted as part of the landscaping.
The project will also include fountains, swings and other recreational facilities. A dedicated play area with swings is proposed for children, while open spaces and landscaping will be designed to make the park suitable for senior citizens as well.
Officials said sufficient open space would be maintained to accommodate a large number of morning and evening walkers. The park is expected to become an important recreational facility for residents of the rapidly developing Yamuna City.
The project assumes significance as YEIDA has already allotted around 20,000 residential plots in sectors 18 and 20. With residential development increasing in these sectors, the new central park is expected to provide residents with a sizeable green area close to their homes.
YEIDA is currently selecting an agency to execute the project. Construction work is expected to begin once the agency is finalised.
