Raiganj, Sept. 18 -- Rita Sarkar, mother of Rajesh Sarkar, who was allegedly involved in an egg-throwing incident at the Raiganj court premises in North Dinajpur district on Wednesday, lodged a complaint with the District Judge against six lawyers on Thursday evening, including Raiganj Bar Association president Sayan Chowdhury and lawyers Swarup Biswas and Joy Mukherjee.
Rita alleged that her son was physically assaulted by a group of lawyers inside the court premises. She urged the authorities to take legal action against those responsible. On the other hand, members of the Raiganj Bar Association also submitted a complaint to the District Judge on Thursday, alleging that their security was being affected by some people entering court premises and hurling eggs at others, thereby creating an atmosphere of insecurity within the court premises. Police had arrested a TMC leader Babai Nandi and had brought him to court for production Wednesday. During the process, alleged BJP supporters reportedly hurled eggs at him. Bystanders were also hit in the incident.
Following the incident, lawyers chased and caught Rajesh Sarkar and another youth and handed them over to police. They were later released from the police station. Rita alleged that her son had gone to court to prepare a declaration when he was caught and assaulted.
