New Delhi, Oct. 3 -- The Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly, Rathindra Bose, was hospitalised on Friday night after he complained of severe chest pain.

He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital near EM Bypass in eastern Kolkata, where his condition is said to be stable. Bose was previously diagnosed with hypertension, type 2 diabetes and unstable angina.

Bose attended two functions at the Assembly premises on Friday to mark Gandhi Jayanti and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He also took part in other programmes throughout the day.

After returning home, the Speaker complained of severe chest pain. His family members immediately took him to the private hospital, where doctors conducted several tests.
