Kolkata, Sept. 23 -- The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has introduced a new procedure for the despatch of written OMR sheets through India Post, requiring examination centres to submit detailed records of the consignments sent after each examination.

According to a directive issued by the Council, centre-in-charges and centre-secretaries of centres located far from the Council will have to send sealed cloth bags containing carton boxes, poly packs, brown envelopes and written OMR answer sheets of each day's examination through designated post offices, along with a despatch report.

The prescribed 'Despatch Report Form' requires centres to record the date of examination, date of despatch, name of the post office from where the consignment was booked, and the India Post receipt number and date.

The form also requires centres to provide subject-wise details of the number of packets despatched and the serial numbers of the top sheets.

The report is to be submitted to the concerned deputy secretary of the Council's regional office. The Council has listed designated post offices against individual main venues in an annexure covering its Kolkata, Burdwan, Midnapore and North Bengal regional offices. The annexure contains 825 main venues, each mapped to a designated post office. The Council has also listed contact persons at India Post and its head office and regional offices for queries related to the despatch process.
