Moradabad, Sept. 8 -- A mosque in Moradabad is facing the threat of demolition after the Moradabad Development Authority (MDA) issued a 15-day notice to its mutawalli, directing removal of the structure or warning of action under applicable rules.
Located in the Pakbada Police Station area, the mosque stands on around 300 square metres of land that the MDA claims belongs to the government.
The members of the mosque committee maintain that the mosque is old. The development comes amid a controversy in Saharanpur over an old mosque on collectorate premises.
MDA Vice-Chairman Anubhav Singh said illegal construction on government land would not be allowed, irrespective of the nature of the structure.
