Kolkata, April 19 -- A cab driver and his brother were arrested on Saturday for robbing a woman inside the car on Thursday night.

According to sources, the woman, a resident of the College Street area, alleged that on Thursday night, she boarded a cab from the Shakespeare Sarani area to reach home. After boarding the cab, it started moving but stopped on the roadside.

The driver, Pappu Yadav, told the woman that due to some technical and mechanical glitch, the car would not move. He allegedly asked the complainant to wait as he was arranging a cab for her. Within a few moments, Pappu's brother Bihari Yadav reached the place. After the woman boarded the cab, Pappu also boarded the same car.

The woman alleged that the duo took her to an abandoned spot and robbed her at gunpoint. Later, the complainant was left near her residence by the two robbers.

On Friday, the woman lodged a complaint, following which police registered a case. During the probe, police checked the CCTV footage of the areas mentioned by the woman and identified the Yadav brothers.

On Saturday, the duo was picked up from near Eden Gardens. After producing them before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta and were remanded to police custody till April 27.
