Kolkata, Sept. 27 -- Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the police in Lalgola of Murshidabad district after illegally crossing the international border into Indian territory.
According to police sources, the duo identified as Dulal and Rosdul Islam, managed to infiltrate the border by swimming across the turbulent Padma River, which serves as a natural boundary between India and Bangladesh. After crossing the river under the cover of darkness, the infiltrators took shelter at the residence of a relative located in the Ramnagar area under Lalgola police station jurisdiction.
Acting on a precise tip-off regarding the presence of illegal immigrants, a police team launched a raid at a house in Ramnagar. During the operation, both individuals were apprehended. Upon questioning, they failed to produce any valid travel documents, passports, or visas authorising their entry into India. The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Foreigners Act.
