
Kolkata, April 3 -- Train services across multiple sections of the Howrah Division will be disrupted on Sunday, April 5, with several local and passenger trains cancelled, rescheduled, short-terminated or regulated due to planned maintenance blocks during daytime hours.
Railways said the blocks, scheduled between 10 am and 3.35 pm depending on the section, will affect operations across at least 14 sections, including Bhadreshwar-Serampore, Adisaptagram-Bandel, Baruipara-Kamarkundu, Gurap-Jaugram, Guptipara-Ambika Kalna, Dhatrigram-Samudragarh, Tenya-Bazarsau, Bhedia-Bolpur Shantiniketan and Ahmadpur-Bataspur. Work will also be undertaken on single-line sections such as Rampurhat-Pinargaria and Ambajora Shikaripara-Kurwa.
A total of 44 local and passenger trains will remain cancelled across suburban sections, with services withdrawn in both directions on key routes. On the Howrah-Bandel section, six trains from Howrah and six in the return direction from Bandel have been cancelled. The Howrah-Barddhaman corridor will also see disruption, with two main line and four chord line services cancelled from Howrah, and a corresponding two main line and four chord line trains withdrawn from Barddhaman.
Two trains each on the Howrah-Memari and Howrah-Chandannpur routes have been cancelled in both directions, while one service each way has been affected on the Howrah-Pandooah, Howrah-Baruipara and Howrah-Katwa sections. The Bandel-Katwa and Katwa-Azimganj routes will see one cancellation in each direction, along with one train each way on the Barddhaman-Sealdah section. The cancellations are expected to affect suburban movement, particularly on the Howrah-Bandel and Howrah-Barddhaman stretches during peak hours.
Two MEMU passenger services between Rampurhat and Katwa will be short-terminated or will originate from Azimganj.
Five trains, including the Howrah-Jamalpur Kavi Guru Express, Rampurhat-Jasidih MEMU, Godda-Sealdah MEMU, Katwa-Nimtita passenger and Sealdah-Sabroom Kanchanjungha Express, will be rescheduled.
Another five trains, including the Howrah-Rampurhat Sahid Express, Howrah-Jaynagar Express, Kolkata-Balurghat Tebhaga Express, Jamalpur-Howrah Kavi Guru Express and Katwa-Azimganj passenger, will be regulated en route, with delays ranging from 15 minutes to 75 minutes.
